Great Northern Pizza Kitchen, Fayetteville NY

My wife and I took our friends to Great Northern Pizza for dinner a few weeks ago, and I’m really not sure what to say about it.

We ordered a large Sausage, Mushroom & Onion Pizza and an order of hot wings and an order of barbecue wings.

It took about 15 minutes for the pizza to arrive, which is actually pretty quick for fresh dough pizza, however when we got it, it was a medium, not a large. The crust was completely soggy and floppy on bottom and the toppings slid off when I tried pick it up.  It was impossible to eat as finger food and we had to get knives and forks. Ordinarily, I’d have sent it back, but we were really hungry and would have eaten nearly anything at that point.

When we told the waitress that the order was wrong, she was really nice about it and had them make up the pie we ordered, which, when it finally arrived was actually quite good and could be eaten as pizza was intended.

The wings were probably the best part of the meal and were hot and juicy and crispy and cooked perfectly. The barbecue wings were sweet and not too hot and the hot wings were “just hot enough” without being insane. And then, just as were were finishing dinner,  for some unknown reason, the wings arrived again. We were pretty full at that point and had a few, but ended up leaving the rest.

In summary, we were served a pizza that we didn’t order, that was pretty awful, another pizza that we did order that was quite good, both barbecue and hot wings that were excellent, and then, wings again.

Ignoring the first pizza and the unordered wings, everything was pretty good, and although it wouldn’t be my first choice when I think of pizza, we would definitely go back.

I’d probably give it a 7 out of 10 on the pizza-meter, and 8 out of 10 on the wing-o-meter (Dinosaur Wings would be a “10”)
